Once again we had a great time in Las Alpujarras.The weather was kind to us and snow in the high sierras made for dramatic scenery.The autumn colours were amazing and there was plenty of chestnuts to collect for Christmas.

We had a good week despite some unseasonal weather. The first two days were sunny and warm, then on the Monday night there was an extraordinary electric storm. But this had cleared up by the next morning and did not prevent us walking and the sun came out again. We saw ibex and eagles, and a profusion of spring gentian.

I really enjoyed the holiday-lottsa fun! I enjoyed walking with you both. Thank you for guiding us on such wonderful walks.I felt a real sense of achievement when we climbed up to Capiliera for the last time. Jane

Yes, these really are wild flowers in La Sierra de Aracena in spring.
When we arrived the weather was a bit gloomy, but by the next day it was begining to pick up and by the end of the week it was almost too hot.
The wild flowers were as good as ever in their colour and variety.The bee eaters didn´t put on such a spectacular show this year, however, we were treated to a quick sighting of a couple of Egyptian Mongooses who appeared on the edge of a wood whilst we were having our picnic.They gave us a long look before disappearing back into the wood.
We also found a profusion of wildlife in the river near to Rio Molino at Alajar.There were fish,newts,frogs,turtles,toads and small slender water snakes.

The weather was hot with a bit of wind in the middle of the week. It was ´fresh´up the mountain, but no rain. Eagle-eyed Gail spotted some gentian on our long walk and most of us saw the ibex on the way down.

The weather was hot and sunny all week, hot enough to swim in the pool. The wild flowers were amazing and the Bee Eaters came out right on cue!
